Chapter Update and Virtual Tools Webcast

On Friday, May 8th chapter officers conducted a webinar, providing a rundown of how COVID-19 is affecting activities such as the National APA Conference and AICP testing as well as our APA-LA State Conference this October in Lafayette. Next, an overview was provided of virtual tools which can help to keep your coordination and public outreach meetings on track.

The presentation wrapped up with a discussion of shared experiences conducting public meetings virtually and questions and answers submitted by webinar viewers.

Today your Chapter Executive Committee sent a letter to Mr. Jim Drinan, Executive Director of APA asking him to consider New Orleans as the venue for the 2018 National Planning Conference. This opportunity arose after indecision occurred in Florida, between Miami and Orlando. The Louisiana Chapter is simply requesting to host the 2018 conference in New Orleans. Over the last weekend in September I had the opportunity to attend the annual American Planning Association’s Policy and Advocacy Conference, Advance Planning, in Washington, D.C. along with our APA Louisiana Chapter President, Ms. Lydia Jemison and Mr. Steve Villavaso.  This was my first visit to D.C. and the Policy and Advocacy Conference and the trip was an amazing introduction to both.
