NPC18 Call for Sessions

Members and Friends of APA Louisiana,
New Orleans is again hosting APA's National Planning Conference April 21-24, 2018 at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center.  As hosts we can both enrich the conference with our unique perspectives as well as provide our membership an excellent opportunity to grow professionally by becoming involved with the premier annual professional planning event.

The Call for Sessions and mobile workshop proposals window opened August 1 and will be open until August 29, 2017.   We would like to encourage you to propose a session or mobile workshop to showcase our membership’s accomplishments.  Please consider submitting a proposal that provides our local planning perspective to one of the conference educational tracks—an including the key phrase Local Planning Perspective On:

  • Climate change and resiliency
  • Managing change in communities
  • Transportation
  • Planning and innovative government
  • Public health and planning
  • Urban design and preservation
  • Planning careers
  • Technology and big data
  • Planning, economic development and the economy
  • Successful messaging for public engagement
  • Development and the natural environment
  • Planning for inclusiveness and social justice

The program is competitive, with about 10-15 sessions and 55 mobile workshops selected for inclusion, but we are here to answer any questions you may have in preparing your proposal. Below is a link to planning.org with instructions for submitting your idea.
